If you are under twenty-one years of age (21) and receive a citation for either Minor in Possession (MIP) or Minor in Consumption (MIC), this may be a more serious matter than you think. I have found that both minors and even their parents are unaware of the repercussions of both MIP and MIC. An arrest for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) is an even more serious offense for someone under 21 and involves action almost immediately. All three of these offenses are class C misdemeanors and will be handled by either a Municipal Court or a Justice of the Peace Court. (This is different from Driving While Intoxicated, which is a class B misdemeanor and handled by a County Court.)
